Last Sunday our Photography group decided to have a photo- walk in Minneapolis. We had a great turn out, about 20 of us walking the downtown streets looking for interesting people and architecture. I found interesting people on the Nicollet Mall People dressed in formal wear heading to and from plays, numerous sports teams loaded with luggage headed to their hotels. The ones I found most interesting are the regulars. Those that hang out on the mall. One such person played the bongos for money. Another group was holding court on a bench. As they called to those that passed by, they also passed a bottle of "Midnight Train" between themselves. These folks were very willing to pose for pictures, their character readily shined.
The part of day that I liked the most was after sunset during the blue hour. We set up around St. Anthony and Main. I was setup on the 3rd Avenue bridge. The photo on the cover of this blog is my favorite from the days shoot. While street and architecture are not my favorite forms of photography, I do find it good to get out and try new or different things. If you are not a member of a photography group, I recommend finding one to join. This is a way to keep your photography fresh and to improve your skills.
